From 3000 miles away Michigan USA, the Plough Inn has a special place in our hearts since 1974, when we were both postgraduate students at Lancaster University and graduated/ got married in 1976. I have paid several return and reunion visits to my favorite pub/restaurant. Over the years it has become better, more beautiful and the food variety has improved. I love the menu and the friendly staff. The Lancashire food, the old Boddington beer are the best and I miss them a lot. The Corona virus halted our visit this year but I will be back once the travel restrictions are lifted. Never hesitate to visit this beautiful place. George & Linda

A last minute decision to stop off here and we were not disappointed. Although we had not made a booking the staff were more than happy to find us a table. The food was fantastic as was the service. We would definitely recommend dining here.

Always very good attentive service. Food is excellent. Well cooked with large portions and good value for money. A lovely beer garden full of flowers for sitting outside on a sunny day

Brilliant country pub in a canal side setting. Have been stopping off here for over 30 years and it hasn't changed much, still marvelous ! Cosy welcoming bar area with Covid restrictions followed. Fantastic outdoor area when weather conditions permit. Great pint, great pub, what's not to like !!!

My first visit a few days ago was very pleasant on a weekday lunch time with lovely soup and a roll - but the establishment was very quiet. Today on my call on my way to hospital visiting the service was terrible - my drink and ice cream (ordered at the same time) arrived at least 10 minutes apart and I had finished the sweet before the coffee arrived. They were both ‘deposited’ on the table, rather than being served - and neither waiter even made eye contact. The spoon for the ice cream was slid across the table at me. This pub has the potential to be lovely (as indeed it was on my first visit) but I won’t be calling again too quickly at peak times as I know I deserve more for my customer money.

Very good food. I would recommend this venue to everybody. I have visited twice over the last two months, both have been very pleasant experiences.

Decent pub which we visited when passing through on our way north. Good COVID secure measures in place and nice standard pub food. Decent selection of beers available and although we didn't have a desert they looked lovely.

Quality freshly cooked meal with nice sized portions. They appear to have the old fashioned attitude of make small margins and get repeated custom rarther than to overcharge for cheap produce and make a one off large profit ! If I lived closer I would frequent this place regularly.
