Enjoyable 5.6 mile out and back hike through the forest. There are some steep sections as you make your way down to the Pacolet River, but it's worth the steep sections to enjoy time out in nature. We went in the winter, so besides pine trees, everything was bare. We will definitely do this hike again when the mountain laurel and rhododendron are blooming. I would imagine the trees and flowers in bloom add to the beauty of this hike.

Great place to hike. Easy with little elevation change even though you're technically in the mountains. Trails are maintained well. Little bridges to keep your shoes dry. Botanical diversity is nice through the length of the trail. The small river at the end is a great place to hangout especially if you bring a hammock. Wear bright colors during hunting season and use a hiking stick to move the snakes out of your way. Most people do not know about this place so don't tell them. Thanks

Nice clear pathways with little traffic. It could use a few wooden signs as many of the state parks do to direct where the paths that split lead to rather than just a entry map upon first entrance. A small creek runs through much of the latter path before ascension back to the old roadway about 5 miles back. The preserve could use a couple trash cans to deter people from leaving any trash behind. Beautiful place to walk mostly just small paths through the wooded forest, not a lot to look at otherwise.
