It was formed on the 18th of July 1994, through the merging of the city's 2 historical clubs PEZOPORIKOS & EPA. Its emblem represents the Admiral Kimonas who died defending the shores of Larnaka. The colours are derived from EPA's yellow colour and PEZOPORIKOS, green. PEZOPORIKOS has won 2 National Championships & 1 National Cup EPA has won has won 3 National Championships & 5 National Cups During these 25 years AEK Larnaka has celebrated 2 National Cups, 1 Super Cup, 4 times Championship runner up. The club achieved UEFA Europa League Group Stages participation twice in 2011 and 2018, becoming the first ever team in Cyprus to play in a UEFA Europa League Group Stage. Another memorable achievement is the Club's new privately owned stadium, AEK ARENA (In memory of Georgios Karapatakis) which was built in 2016. It currently operates as a UEFA Category 3 stadium and works are underway to upgrade to UEFA Category 4 by summer 2020. AEK ARENA opened its door on 17th October 2016 for the match AEK Larnaka - Aris Limassol which ended 4-0.
