Careful with "reservation" on credit card. First off, service sucks. Don't expect greetings or fancy customer service. They're doing you a "favor" and that's how they treat you. After two days of returning my rental, I'm still waiting for the reservation of 650 to be refunded on my credit card, which they apparently treat as a "deposit". I was charged for the car and the deposit. I was told it would be immediate, then 24hrs, then 48hrs, and now "up to 8 business days". All for a 75 one day rental!

Unsafe car: worn tires; wrong size and old windshield wipers; old remote control batteries made it unreliable. Car was dirty and full of scratches. Price was quoted in US, but they converted it to CLP and my credit card converted back to US, which made me lose money. Also, they added US10 to the price of the reservation for no reason. I am definitely not renting again from them. Also, I am sending pictures of the worn tires to their headquarters.
I rented a car on June 6. Alamo Chile delivered a dirty car full of dents and in a very bad condition. As I was in Santiago for 2 days only and it was very cold I just took it for granted. On my second day a bus hit the back of the car as I was waiting on a traffic light. I took the driver's details and reported the accident with pictures and details, making it clear I had no responsibility and requesting what should I do. I followed Alamo's orientation to go to a Notary office where I waited 2h in line to get a letter reporting what happened to protect me from charges. When I delivered the car they said it would take 15 days for them to give me a feedback. 4 days later, surprise: a US 1,119 charge on my credit card for the damage. Definitely a rip off. And worse... they double punished me instead of supporting me to get the bus company pay for the damage they cause. They don't answer the phone. There's no customer service. NEVER rent a car with them.
I had a very good experience! The staff were very professional and nice. The desk is right in the airport and they pulled the car right up to the curb. The car was great. The rate was reasonable. They accept credit card insurance, while many other companies wont. I have read a lot of horror stories about bad DR car rentals and really appreciated the good and honest customer service here.
Without a reservation, they provided us with a car, and even upgraded our size for no additional cost. We did pay more than planned, but that's on us for being late and not filling the tank. They were adequately helpful (albeit not "friendly," but that tends to be an expectation for those from the USA and is not expected in other countries).
It is my first time in Chile and the Alamo service was very good.
Car had several defects, only 3/8 of gas. Parking on a crowded street to return vehicle . Arrived 11:40 to return it and office was closed although contract says 09-18:30 open continuously. Tried to reach out to contacts in contract without luck. Finally after 20min staff showed up.
Was bit afraid getting the car from this office after reading reviews here. However it was the most convenient location for me so i did it. No problems with check in whatsoever. Staff was nice and poitep but bit limited with English. Got the car i booked.The deposit blocked on my card was 600usd which was returned back 3 days after check out. Gor check out i waited for couple of minutes and that was it. Smooth and no issues.
