Scenery here can be absolutely surreal. We found the easy half-hour walk to the caldera much more engaging than the Timanfaya bus tour! Just make sure you wear closed shoes: the ground is made of billions of tiny dark sharp pebbles that will make you regret wearing flip flops.

A great historic site in Lanarote, this now extinct and collapsed volcano helped to form the island and landscape as you see it today. Easy to see from the main road and free parking. It's around a 15 minute walk from the car park to the volcano. Make sure you wear comfortable sturdy shoes as the ground is sometimes uneven. Once at the site it's about a 45 min - 1 hr walk if you go inside and walk all the way around. The landscape leaves you feeling like you're on another planet and the views are spectacular.
Lovely place to have a walk and explore, it's usually quite windy though. Paths are well maintained, but wouldn't recommend the walk for anyone who is less able. It is about a mile just to walk to the volcano itself. Amazing scenery and interesting rock formations. Well worth a visit.
Well marked and easy path. About 3km long. You can go inside the crater.
It's an easy, quick walk to go inside the valley of the mountain on a prepared path.
