Love that course... not easy to play, the greens are fast
I have just shot 72 on this course, first time playing it as a 10 handicap golfer, can't really understand the negative reviews. The greens are excellent, better than the big name courses often are as they get overplayed. You need to use your driver sparingly, this course is quite tight and 1 shot penalty in a hazard awaits many misses. I preferred my lies off the bare patches, no different to many top UK links courses last summer.
Really enjoyed stay. Plenty of sporty activities and classes, but we used it as a base to explore. Would recommend and would go again
Golf Course: No! Of the 18 holes about 5 are good, 8 ok and 5 unplayable. The 2 main problems are 1: The grass (fairways etc) is sparse and thin, maybe 1cm of earth if that. Underneath it's rock hard. My clubs aged about 10 years in 5 rounds! 2: All the holes north of the road are so hilly that the ball simply never comes to rest until it's out of bounds! Your only chance is to hit the green off the tee. Good luck all ye amateurs over 18hcp! Tip: Play bunker to bunker. They're the only places where the ball comes to rest! Otherwise friendly and reasonable prices.
