I am a regular customer at Dobbies And enjoy a coffee and scone most times when I am there. This has been even better recently with the reduction in vat which Dobbies were passing on to their customers. Imagine my surprise when I was charged 3.15 for a large latte last week. Exactly the price it was before the chancellor's vat reduction. Does this mean that when this concession ends Dobbies will add on the vat? If that is the case then I will be looking to buy my coffee elsewhere.

We went to the restaurant and it was absolutely awful and I won't be coming back. There was a massive queue the length of the entire store which of course isn't their fault, it was because of the 50% off eat out scheme. But when we got in after all that time, we found that quite a lot of the tables were completely empty with many people standing outside. I can see why they did this as they wouldn't have the staff to take on that many guests but they should have been a lot more prepared and had more staff on because they have an idea of how busy it gets. So when we were seated, no one came over to take our order for around 20-25 minutes and there were no staff members in sight so we couldn't exactly just wave at them. After a long time, we finally managed to catch the attention of someone. The drinks and food arrived pretty quick but it definitely wasn't hot and was instead warm at best. I ordered the brie, bacon and cranberry toasted sandwich and it was pretty good but nothing amazing. We then asked the waitress for salt and mayonnaise and she never brought it over in the whole time we were there and there was still no one around to speak to. Now I can get to the part that was truly awful, the salad. I've attached a photo and as you can see, it looks like someone just wiped what was left on the dressing table onto my plate. Then we waited for someone to come back and ask if we were finished and to pay but we had to leave in a hurry so I had to go up and stand at the service table until I managed to get someone's attention. This place is an embarrassment to customer service.

I would like to Thank the restaurant team especially the team dealing with Afternoon teas.. Dylan and his team have been amazing, I booked almost 50 parent carer afternoon tea between last Tuesday & today as a treat, part of parent support offered by Bright Sparks, a Midlothian charity for children with disabilities & their families. The warm welcoming atmosphere to the stress free service, delicious selection of sandwiches, cakes & scones. Thank you Dylan & team for great service, and giving our parent a great day out

We went to Dobbies yesterday tbf it was only 9.45am but the safe measures in place were very impressive. The tables were a good bit apart and so it felt very safe. There was also table service which again was brilliant. We were served by Steven who was very helpful and with a great sense of humour. We normally go to Livingston but it is always so busy it doesn't feel as safe. The queues are horrendous therefore by the time you wait for coffee your food is cold. Think Livingston could learn a lot from a visit to Gilmerton/ Lasswade. Thank you Steven we has a most enjoyable breakfast and will probably drive the extra miles to go to Edinburgh.
