Great place to go for some family fun. Animal barns, rides, deep fried food, and everything else you'd expect from a good old county fair.

They have good food. And the entertainment is great.
I took my 7 year old son and his friend to the fair on Friday, 7/19/19 at 12:30pm. The rides were to open at 1:00pm. We go and pay our 13.00 entry fee at the gate and we start walking towards the rides. At 1:05pm we were walking down to the midway and there was no one down there. I did see a family and asked them what time the rides were opening. They said they were told by one of the vendors after they had already paid their gate admission, that the rides were not opening up until 5:00pm that night. I was not happy and neither was the other family as we had both come to the fair so the kids could ride the rides. Walking up to our car to leave, because I was not going to wait 4 hours for them to open, I stopped and confirmed with a man in a green shirt, driving a golf cart that the rides were not opening until 5pm. He confirmed. I told him our situation and he got on the radio and called for a lady to come see us. The lady came and I explained to her what was going on. She said they do not give refunds and yes the rides were opening at 5pm. She said she could give me a voucher to get back in at 5pm. I explained we only came today to ride rides and I was not waiting around or coming back at 5pm. She said the gate workers were to tell everyone entering that the rides would not open until 5pm. No one told my group or the other group. She did give us both our money back and we left and never returned. The girl at the ticket booth asked the lady in charge of they could put a sign on the counter telling people the rides were not opening until 5pm and she told them “NO”. The girl at the entry booth didn’t understand why but she rolled her eyes and said “OK”. On a side note, I honestly have no idea how this fair is still in business because they have lost so many food vendors and it is very empty. Cass County Fair is thriving and Van Buren Fair is getting smaller and smaller every year we come. It’s very sad to see it slipping away.
The annual consignment Auction is very well organized and it was easy find \hidden jems\ and a few bargains. There were a lot more vendors this year. The homemade ice cream was a treat.
