VERY POOR, UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE - AVOID! We arranged a viewing of a house to rent on Thursday. When we turned up the current tenant would not answer the door and had put a key in the lock so the agent could not get in. The agent was very apologetic and told us she would rearrange the viewing and make sure we were the first to view the property. We agreed to this and said we were very keen to rent the property, but of course needed to have a look inside before we did. We told the agent that the house ticked most of our boxes and we would likely take it following a viewing. The viewing was rearranged for Saturday, we turned up and the same agent was showing the property to another couple. We were a little shocked after what the agent told us, but we went on with the viewing. The house did tick all our boxes, so despite the messing around we agreed to take it and handed the agent our completed application form. On Monday we had an email to say our application was not successful, as the landlord had decided to go with one of the other applicants. We are VERY frustrated, when we were told we would be the first to view the property... I don' know why an agent would say that to a couple who had told them they'd take the house, pending a viewing and then arrange other applicants to view. This seems very poor and very unprofessional to me.

I rented a flat with Newman last year... I think it is the most unprofessional service I have ever had with any business. Nothing was right: unresponsive for the length of the tenancy, flat wasn't professionally cleaned before we moved in, as promised, and they tried to get a large part of the deposit at the end (disputed and they didn't get it). I don't understand how they can operate with their very poor and disorganised ways of working.
I have rented a property through Newman Letting agent with 2 friends in 2019 and they gave us the worst service you can ever imagine: - On first visit they had no idea about the property they were visiting and promised things that were never done ( cleaning before moving in, fixing electrical issue) - On the move in day they lied about having their professional cleaner \ letting them down\ and we were given a very dirty flat with electrical problem - We were not given a key for the letter box and I had to argue with them everyday for a month to get someone to fix the issue - We didn't have heating for the whole month of October even though they were aware and would just \ come back to us\ so we had to get someone to fix it as the temperatures were freezing. - They didn't want us to attend the check out because we \ would be in the way\ - They wanted to take more than half of our deposit away for cleaning and painting when we had spent 2 days cleaning the flat. We raised a dispute through the TDS deposit scheme and was proven right and got our deposit back They will always find a way to trick you and lie to you about everything. I am sure that they will reply to this post saying lies and trying to discredit it by saying we were bad tenants for having one party. Anyway I would run away if I saw the name again, they are thieves and will lie for anything !
Brendan at Newman's was always very organised, professional and accomodating from start to finish. Never had to chase, did what was promised and enabled us to complete very quickly (6 weeks). Would highly recommend as trustworthy and professional.
