Apparently, there is good intention behind the public skating service. Yet, it is organized by someone who didn't see any better. You are only allotted two hours to skate, which would be fine: most people don't need more. But those hours are sliced into exact time slots on weekends, with one hour between each skating slot. So you can imagine the crowds going in and out. And they use that one hour to mend the ice, which is ok but seriously: why bother? Nobody comes there with kids or friends to set world records or awe the spectators on the perfect ice. Bottom line: the rink needs someone who understands service and the needs of is visitors.
Too many people, service is mediocre, otherwise, ice is ok. You get a lot of people being too extreme in their skating, but I guess it's a thing with every place

Far and away the best ice rink I have been to. Nice to be able to stop for a cup of tea too.
We came on Sunday and bought tickets for the session from noon to 2 pm. Surprisingly we were allowed to skate on the bigger ring at 12:10 pm and were forced to leave it at 1:45 pm. This means 25 minutes of our session were taken away. They do it in order to clean the ice cause they don't reserve the time between the sessions for this purpose. This is so stupid - they clean the ice at the time we paid for. Skating on the smaller rings at time is impossible, they become very crowded as all people from the bigger ring come there. The women at the reception were eating sun seeds. Apart from this Alau is a nice place.
