Attended a wedding reception. The location is very nice and an ideal venue for a wedding. However it is quite expensive, we ordered 2 drinks on arrival and they cost over 10. The staff were very friendly but a little slow at times. A warm buffet was served and the food was nice. Struggled to understand what the DJ's on the disco were talking about most of the time.
I photographed a wedding reception here so can honestly say that it worked very well for the bride and her wedding guests. The French manager wasn't exactly customer-friendly but I guess he was under pressure.
The restaurant is great. I can recommend the burger. Well presented and good quality food. Staff very friendly but a little slow at times. Highly recommended when in the area.
Wow, what a dive this place has become! In drastic need of an update (it hasn't been redecorated since it was opened), the smell of stale beer hits you as you walk through the door, the wallpaper is coming off the walls, tables scratched, furniture worn out after years of drunk golfers piling on it every weekend. The manager looked petrified when we asked him for a menu then displayed genuine relief when we said we weren't interested. It saddens me to see it in such a state. Not sure which big chain is managing the place nowadays but God help any of the staff there.
Beautiful setting, nice venue building away from main hotel, drinks exceptionally expensive, catering was first class.
Staff are friendly but often very disorganized -always run out of things from drinks, milk, napkins and change! Expensive for what you get. Captive audience though! Not happy today as turned up for coffee whilst kids have usual 2hrs of lessons (5.30-7.30pm) found Claret Jug now closes at 6.00pm due to 'winter opening hours'. This means nowhere to sit in the warm and get hot beverage for 2 hours!
Really good food, but shambles of waiting staff. Had to order our food 3 times before they remembered, took 90 minutes for us to get 5 dinners. I think unless they are doing a function, they don't seem to be equipped to just do normal dinners for people. Amazing views, good food, really cheap for where it is, but if you are in a rush, I'd avoid, but if you aren't, it might add to the experience.
