Really great course, the pacing of it was excellent - not dwelling on things for too long, yet leaving nothing unexplained and no questions unanswered. My course was postponed twice due to covid but well worth the wait. Even with a mix of people from very different backgrounds and aims everyone seemed to learn a lot and get what they required from the course. Thanks Dan

Absolutely amazing course. Enjoyed it so much and learnt loads during the experience. I thought it was very well structured and taught in a way that anyone could understand and have fun while doing so. Would definitely recommend for any courses and can’t wait to do more under the same helpful and motivating guidance.
Absolutely fantastic service. I used Mckinlay Mountaineering for both my RCI Training and Assessment. Dan’s courses are expertly run by passionate and dedicated climbers who clearly love the sport and are keen to share this with others. My assessment course was 17-18th April and so was one of the first courses that could be run this year. Mark Smith, who ran the course was clearly genuinely excited to be back running the course and immediately did everything he could to set us at ease. I sent the below to Dan Mckinlay the evening after my course. “ Firstly, thank you for being so flexible for me in the run up, I know it’s a difficult time and it’s not helped by people like me putting it off three times so thank you, you really helped! Secondly, I’d just like to say how well run the weekend itself was. Mark was absolutely incredible and everything you could want from an assessor. He made me feel really comfortable and absolutely set the tone to get the best out of me. He was open to ideas and whilst rigorous also made it clear the whole weekend was a learning process which meant that I felt like I not only got to show the best of myself, I could also try new things and pick up new ideas. Rowan, who came along as well, was a fantastic addition to the team and was great at sharing ideas and inspired us as a climber!”
Dan is an absolutely fantastic instructor and I wholeheartedly recommend him for any course you may take. Dan brings an infectious enthusiasm to everything he does, makes time for you specifically and goes through every step of the process for everything you'll need to know for your chosen course. A big plus is he gets you a coffee too! Thanks Dan!
Did my RCI training with Dan. Really great course, loads of knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport. Great pacing, everything was very well explained. Left feeling keen and ready to get qualified, can't ask for more than that really
Dan delivers an excellent course. His experience enables him to satisfy the needs of a group that may have varying expectations and expertise. The course (CWI) was a mix of theory and practice, all very relevant and delivered with enthusiasm and sensitivity. I got a lot from it.
I would thoroughly recommend Dan for RCI training. He is thorough, explains everything clearly, and he is hugely encouraging and full of enthusiasm. A great few days!
Great course run by Dan in a strange mix of weather conditions! The whole weekend was very informative and Dan was always on hand with useful guidance and advice.
