I have never written a review for a doctor before, but there's a first time for everything. This was EASILY the best doctor visit I have ever had. Dr. Hedges was professional, extremely knowledgeable, and more than anything, LISTENED with care when I discussed my symptoms and some of the difficulties I have been having. Dr. Hedges defines what people expect, want and are needing from a physician---what a refreshing visit! I highly recommend her for Neurological needs.
I’ve never been with an office that was so unhelpful, I’ve been waiting on a PreAutherization for some testing and they were unable to get current information. It’s been 3 months with no communication from them, I had to cancel a follow up appt due to not having test done. I get called to reschedule when they know the Test have not been done. I asked them to contact my insurance to get the update. They refused, saying they couldn’t follow up. I work with insurance and I know that is Not the case! They definitely need an improvement!
This is probably the first non-positive review I have ever written and it is likely because it hits so close to home for me. Dr. Hedges was nice to my mom and gave her lots of time at her appointments. We never felt rushed. However, I was frustrated with her inability to think outside the box with my mom's diagnosis and treatment plan. She just kept upping the medication even though it wasn't working. She did several MRIs but never did any other kind of testing (SPECT, PET, DaTSCAN, serum ceruloplasmin, sphincter electromyography, lumbar puncture, etc.) I kept asking her to consider other diagnoses and tests/treatment, but to no avail. My mom passed away at age 58, 3 years and 9 months after the onset of her symptoms and her first visit with Dr. Hedges (who diagnosed her with Parkinson's Disease and would not classify it as early onset either). If you have a clear-cut disease, I'm sure Dr. Hedges would be great and will give you the time of day at your appointments; however, if you have something complex that is often misdiagnosed and requires constant testing for progression (or lack thereof) and reassessment of the diagnosis - Dr. Hedges is not for you.
Dr. Hedges and her staff are a pleasure to work with. They really make you feel like they care about what's wrong with you. Everyone there is friendly, professional and prompt in answering any questions you may have. I will always recommend Dr. Hedges to anyone needing a neurologist.
