Cancelled my wife's insurance and charged me excessive amounts for abiding by lockdown rules... shameful company. Avoid. Cancelled due to not fitting black box. We've not left the house since insurance policy began. No correspondence. Never use this company. Thieves

Received a letter stating my insurance renewal payment had failed but i made payment a month ago. 24 minutes on hold waiting for assistance. Terrible customer service.... AVOID AVOID

I was already with Hastings and when my renewal date was near I took out a policy with them (but via online comparison) my policy did auto renew but as soon as I called (on the date of my renewal), the representative said that's fine they will cancel and did so within minutes. She advised that it doesn't look as if I have been charged, however, if I find that it is in pending transactions this will be returned to me in a few working days and if it doesn't get returned/ gets completely debited from my account then to contact them and they will return the funds. Its a shame I can't remember her name (I called 7.2.21 at 9am if that helps the company at all) as she was very helpful and professional, gave me advise for the next year regarding renewal so I don't have the same trouble. Judging by this encounter, I can't understand all the negative reviews.

I have had the same experience as everyone else giving 1 star (and wanting to give none). I would never use this company again for insurance. They will charge you handsomely for every amendment to your policy, they seem to make the rules up as they go along. Then as a final insult, I received an email saying my policy would automatically renew at double the price that other companies are offering. You cannot cancel online and after speaking to the operative (who was very nice) and having to go through the whole policy details again so they can check there is nothing else to charge you for, suddenly reduced the premium cover by a third (nothing had changed) and then waited for my response, as though I would be really excited when the price is still significantly more than other companies and the terms are worse. I think it is really wrong that companies like this are still able to trade when there is obviously something very wrong. I am not a person to just put negative reviews online for the sale of it, I like to be honest and fair. Please be very cautious when signing up to a policy with this company.

After trying to cancel my car insurance and initially having problems getting through to someone and being hit with excess charges, I have now resolved this to my satisfaction. Only cancelled because I had sold my second car and would not be getting another car to replace it. When I finally got to speed to someone who was able to understand my situation, they dealt with it in a professional and timely manner. UPDATE - Hastings have failed again...After selling my car which I will not be replacing I tried to cancel my car insurance. Hastings make it very difficult, can't get through on telephone and via online app. they said i needed to pay 85 cancellation fee but my card details were out of date so I would need to call. Finally got through the next day and after a very long call I was promised that all fees would be waived. I received an email today to say that my payment schedule had been amended, yes you guessed it they still want me to pay exit fees of 85, tried to call again and they are not answering calls. What a complete joke, will now be making a formal complaint to ombudsman. Will also cancel my home insurance with them as that is due for renewal in a couple of days.
