Specialising in learning disability and adult social care services, Peter brings 40 years experience of the sector which includes family experience, local authority provider and commissioner roles, and latterly periods as MD and CEO of successful high quality providers in the private and charity sectors. A lot of Peter's council career focused on integrating health and social care services, promoting joined up thinking and empowering people. Since leaving local government, he worked as MD and then CEO in a family business and then a regional charity, achieving substantial growth and universally “good” CQC ratings in both organisations. The organisations he led accumulated awards and accreditations including autism accreditation, ISO9001, CHAS and IiP at Gold level and Peter's personal credibility is reflected in his role as elected chair of Shropshire Partners in Care (the highly respected trade association and training provider supporting 90% of adult social care providers in Shropshire and Telford.) Peter is also employed on a casual basis by CQC as a specialist adviser for LD, adult safeguarding and governance and in 2018 he supported Mencap in the national media campaign in respect of the sleep-in crisis. Peter is currently available for engagement for: 1) Interim work in local authority or provider services preferably for 3-4 days per week 2) A longer term part-time role (NED, adviser etc.) for 4-5 days per month and/or 3) Short term project work. Based on the Herts / Beds / Bucks border, Peter is able to travel or work away from his home area.
