Lovely cosy pub with a lot of history and character. Big outdoor seating area that’s covered and heated and a secret gin bar in the back with a huge gin collection. Very COVID safe, with a great system. Very dog friendly too.

Amazing traditional pub with a few twists! The best gin bar in the world and the pub is staffed by dynamic, friendly people. This place should be on your ‘must do’ list!

The Black Lion is a real gem in Leighton Buzzard. Admittedly it was quiet on the Wednesday afternoon my wife and I visited but their Covid preparations were really well organised and we were well looked after in the beer garden being able to order and pay for drinks at our table with the really friendly staff. The selections of draught ales, some local, ciders and the (in)famous gin cave in the barn with its huge range of unusual flavours, are always interesting If you've never been, give it a go, it has real history and charm.

Excellent covid-19 protection in place while still functioning as a proper pub. Superb choice of ales. Well kept Bass on draught.

it’s amazing how Wetherspoons can afford to take over large redundant municipal, ecclesiastical, cinemas and county hotels and make them into viable pubs. All due credit to them, in this case they have established themselves in a glorious old Georgian coaching inn. The pub is adorned with photographs and plaques of local history and there is a cozy county feel about the establishment. The timber panelled walls and furniture give it a nice ambience. The rest rooms/toilets were exceptional beautifully modern and clean. The food and beverage were great value my partner and I enjoyed a pint and two wholesome meals for under 11.00. An interesting fact about Wetherspoons is that this is also a hotel! not just a pub. Leighton Buzzard is a very picturesque country town and well worth a visit on market days comprising of Tuesdays and Saturdays

Lovely pub with a natural warmth due to the open fire. Locals are friendly and the people that work there are really nice.

Visited during COVID-19 pandemic (few drinks for my birthday), October 2020. One-way system. Details taken on entry - scan QR code to check in on the NHS test & trace app. Friendly staff member greeted us immediately to explain what to do. Sat inside which was spotlessly clean, with socially distanced seating. Table service, contactless payments. Staff attentive and all wearing masks. Outside there's lots of sheltered seating and we did see one heater, too. Hopefully there will be more with the colder weather coming. We were nervous of what to expect but felt safe once there. Credit to all staff and management

The Black Lion is a great pub, with no less than eight real-ales on at the time of visiting. Oakham's Bishop's Farewell was in excellent condition and was greatly enjoyed by all the party. An impressive gin was also presented served with accompanying fruits as to suit the gin. This pub is a real gem to be sought out in Leighton Buzzard.
