What excellent people at Hanna. A perceived problem led to email support, an immediate suggestion of a product return for checks. The checks were carried out over the next couple of days on receipt of the equipment. Contact back, it was an issue of my use - not the equipment - fully tested and informed no charge and the kit is in the post. What excellent service, fantastic timing and all round what you want from a company which provides technical equipment. Tea and medals all round.

Great service, good communication across email & telephone
The instruments from hanna are of a throw away quality. Having tried a range of pH testers, a Do2 meter, Aquaculture photometer and ammonia checker I have found them all apart from the ammonia checker to be unreliable in a very short space of time. The customer service is polite but unfortunately hanna don't stand by the promised guarantee. I have followed all advise from hannah using hannah brand fluid to properly maintain this kit to no avail. A very short sited approach to looking after your customers, a shame.
I cannot recommend this company. I spent 900 on a ph dosing pump with a 2 year warranty, after 18 months the pump failed and was returned for repair. I was told that the bolts that secure the pump head had come loose which had let moisture into the unit and that as this was not considered a manufacturing fault I would have to buy another pump. I was pointed to page of the manual which says bolts should be checked every 50 hrs (under 2 days!!) Given the pump failed after 18 months I can only assume I was expected to check the pump every 2 days. After some discussion I was offered a 10% discount on a replacement. I was not allowed to speak to an engineer and was told that the man on the phone could do nothing further. So to conclude, Hanna Instruments will happily take your money, but their 2 year warranty is worthless and completely unenforceable, they can weasel out of anything by claiming you should maintain their pumps 3 times a week.
I have just set up a business from home and need to check the temperature and pH of my products. I rang up Hanna Instruments and the lady I spoke to was extremely helpful. She talked me through the different thermometers with advantages and disadvantages of each. She also informed me all about testing for pH. At first it sounded very complicated but she made it very simple. She emailed me straight away with details of how to look after the meter to give it the best possible life. I am really impressed and what a lovely company to deal with.
I phoned them in the morning for advice before I purchased two Hanna checkers and other test apparatus, the receptionist said she could not answer my question and would get a technical advisor to call me back straight away.. Guess what after another 3 phone calls tithem and being told they would ring me back a total of 5hrs passed and still no phone call.... so I rang them one last time and eventually got to speak to a technician.... I wanted to spend a considerable amount of money with them and I needed the advice ASAP so I could get next day delivery (I missed that window) I will not be shopping with them as the customer service is not very reliable
