After a beautiful walk up to Ivinghoe Beacon we frequented this delightful pub. Although one of our choices of starter was sold out, the Salt and Pepper Squid, having then choose and, with COVID care, shared two other starters, Karaage Friday Chicken (not hot) and Baked Camembert, I can only assume that the Squid was so popular that we shall need to return. Our starters were absolutely delicious. We both opted for the Dexter 'beef patty (burger to most), having read about it being locally produced. The 'patty' was made from traditionally minced mince (for those who know what I mean) so the texture was very special. Dexter beef has a 'traditional flavour and I am keen to return and try the Dexter Sunday roast and on another occasion the pizza Blanca with Goats Cheese. The friendly, courteous hosts make you feel welcome, well attended but are not pushy or overbearing and made our visit rather close to perfect (perfect would have been if we had visited when the open fire was alight, our error). I love a bitter and enjoyed the selection available. That you all so much and well done in such difficult and trying times, I hope to see you again soon - do try this place, it was quite, non touristy and totally traditional in a modern kind of way. Fantastic pub! Great food, beer & atmosphere! We sat in the big beer garden. Particularly impressed with the lamb flatbread and Dexter beef burger. And the home-made chips! Staff were warm and welcoming, and everyone had a brilliant time. I would highly recommend a visit
Popped in this afternoon and was completely wowed by the friendly welcome and friendliness of the locals. Nice choice of real ales. Nice atmosphere. Menu looked tempting to me, though my veggie partner could only find two things suitable (veggie burger or margarita pizza) so we'd probably not eat there
