Very interesting place, the view is stunning. In the evening, when the monument itself is lit - it is not to put into words. I advise everyone to rise to the top to get emotions.

The sheer size is awe-inspiring. The architecture and stone-work are so impressive because when you look at them closely, you can see how precisely every stone was cut, and how seamlessly they all fit together. Add to that, the craftsmanship and detail of the hundreds of sculpted horsemen, circling the inner side of the dome and the massive faces... When you try to take it all in, it can give you the chills. Climb the many many steps to the roof for an amazing panoramic view.

Uncomfortably Magnificent. This, the tallest monument in Europe, to commemorate a victory over Napoleon, memorializes a very bloody resolution to a European conflict. Finished in 1913, it should have been a timely reminder of the human cost of war. It is a humbling and awe-inspiring place. The scale of the piece can not be completely understood in photographs, it is well worth a detour to make a visit. Take time to also to visit the museum and to go inside the monument.
