Combining the best of both worlds we enjoy a quiet rural location on the very edge of the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, yet just a short walk from the beautiful coastline and the seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Thorpeness. Contemporary Bed and Breakfast in Suffolk… Centred around a nineteenth century barn (albeit now brought very much into the 21st Century) our five guest suites are set within a new shingle- clad extension. Each room enjoys a dramatic, light-filled full height space with access into the garden and an individual decking area on which to while away the day. Stay with us either for â€˜bed and breakfast’ or take over the whole place to enjoy with your family and friends (we can comfortably sleep ten to twelve). Explore five acres of garden and woodland or sit out and relax in your own private seating area. Watch the rabbits and pheasant and if you are lucky enough you might catch sight of Muntjac deer, woodcock or even slow worms. Please note that whilst we are working hard on our gardens they are still maturing! See our rooms YOUR STAY We want you to feel entirely at home when you stay at Five Acre Barn – Read the papers in the Barn, fix yourself a drink from our ‘honesty bar’, settle down with a book in the garden, huddle round the fire pit, test your knowledge of the Milky Way or, if you are feeling energetic, play a game of boules or croquet. Find out more LOCAL AREA The Suffolk coast has so much to offer –unspoilt beaches, stunning wildlife, world class arts, picturesque villages – and as one of England’s driest sunniest counties provides the weather in which to enjoy them. As relative newcomers ourselves, we have been busy exploring – seeking out the best walks, tastiest fish and chips, the cosiest pubs. We also keep our ear to the ground to share what is going on locally that guests might otherwise miss. Find out more OUR STORY After living in Peckham, London, for many years, we decided to escape the urban jungle for the English countryside. Having visited the county on many occasions, the beautiful Suffolk coast was a natural choice. Beautiful and tranquil retreat in the middle of the Suffolk countryside. Bruce & David are excellent hosts, and provided excellent breakfasts and cake alongside great conversation and advice about the area. We had a great time exploring the area (in slightly atmospheric weather!) and will stay again soon! Highly reccomeded.

What an amazing place! We absolutely loved it. Every detail was perfect. David and Bruce were wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome. An incredible space - so much work, love and care has gone into creating it. It’s a truly stunning place and yet so comfortable at the same time. Add to this the home made cake on arrival, the eggs benedict at breakfast, the fire, the bath, the music. I could go on and on and on!

Newly built, comfortable, welcoming accomodation that feels like it's in the middle of a nature reserve. Best thing is the two chaps who run the place - David and Bruce - who are super friendly and welcoming, and cook a delicious breakfast! There is also a help yourself honesty bar for a quick tipple when you get back of an evening!

Outdoors: beautiful gardens and wider countryside immediately around the property, contemporary and idyllic. A mix of traditional barn building and contemporary architecture. Indoors: communal barn is decorated with beautiful objects, art, books and furniture, interior design fans will be delighted. The hall to the rooms is a gallery in its own right. The 5 available private rooms are like little houses, with great quality space and light, with thoughtful objects, furnishings and products throughout. Include indoor seating area as well as doors onto private terraces looking over the gardens. Breakfast is a dream, Bruce and David are wonderful hosts: happy to chat and advise on the area or leave you to do your own thing. And of course Ruby and Lola, you will fall in love with these gorgeous and extremely well behaved doggies. I say that as a ‘non dog person’. Easily the best place from which to explore the Suffolk coast.

Bruce and David have created a beautiful space furnished with style and great care. The rooms are well appointed and spacious with views and access to your own terrace. We were lucky to have the barn space (which is freely available to guests) to ourselves for both of the evenings, where we could relax in front of the fire and take in the day. Bruce prepared the best breakfast we've had in a very long time with the same attention to detail they've given to Five Acre Barn overall. They clearly set out to create a unique and special experience and they've achieved just that. They deserve every success.

Had a delightful weekend here, a great base for cycling around the Suffolk countryside. The breakfast was fantastic, dogs lovely and large. Would happily recommend and come again!
