Lovely old church in centre of the old town of Leon. Surprisingly small inside but worth a visit

Beautiful, more than 1000 years old church in unbelievably good condition. It has seat-heating as well, so you can enjoy it comfortably even during the chilly Leon winters.
Expecting the Basilica to be larger than the cathedral. No it smaller and more on the simpler side. There are nice side chapels. Also no charge to see and rest in contemplation for a while.
Cool basilica. Very inviting ambiance, not cold and dank like some I've seen. Castilla y León is a more religious area and the people here take it seriously. You can tell by the way they treat their environment and each other. I'm not religious, but I wish we atheists were more respectful of each other and our cities like the believers are. The difference between León and Barcelona is palpable, and it's because of the resident population, not the tourists. León is spotless and classy, whereas Barcelona is smelly, filthy and noisy. No class at all.
Just the Royal Pantheon justifies the visit. Not large but best medieval place i've seen
