I had the Italian Sub sandwich. Very fresh and tasty. It had so much meat on it that I took some off as I I don't like that much meat, but I know for others that would be a big bonus. I also had a choc chip cookie . . very good also!

It took close to 20 minutes to get our subs. The subs overall were not good- 3 of us got the Turkey Bacon Ranch subs and each commented how you couldn't even taste the ranch. Sad because we were looking for another good sub shop, Quiznos is much better.

Out of all the sub shops here in Lincoln this one is by far the best. The two Negative Nancys that didn't like these subs need to get their taste buds checked. My recommendation is to give this place a shot and try at least one of their subs. Oh and it just so happens I am going back there today to eat.

Lincoln, Nebraska is notorious for having way too many sub shops. Firehouse adds to the mix without really adding anything new. On my visit, I was explained what the difference was (some kind of steaming process), but when I got the food, I didn't really notice any difference. The prices are slightly on the high side, but most of the sub sandwich shops are overpriced. Some of the positives of Firehouse is more steak entries on the menu. A lot of sub shops usually only have one offering, sometimes only during limited time offerings. There is also a large variety of hot sauces to choose from. I liked the option to have hotsauce, but not sure if there is a large population putting hot sauce on sub sandwiches, at least in Nebraska. There is also a significant variety of chips to choose from that are more than just the common flavors. Finally, there is one of those special coke machines that allow you to add different flavors. I wouldn't recommend having a Raspberry Coke, but it is an option. One issue with this is that the machine only provides syrup for flavoring and you can determine the amount of syrup. This makes a Cherry Coke not a true Cherry Coke (Even I prefer a more cherrier Cherry Coke). All in all, the food is good. The staff was nice and helpful. The only drawback is that with so many sub sandwich shops, people may tire of it. The other hope is that prices decrease to be more competitive. Nearly 9 is a little much for a sandwich combo when you could go to a restaurant for only a dollar or two more.
