Great for sunrise. Friday night in late summer season, only one other person staying in the shelter. Pit toilet available for use with solid waste only. There is a spring, but you should still filter this water, as suggested by the caretaker. A site or spot is 10 per person per night. This shelter is a decent trek off trail (0.2 miles only, but quite downhill on stone steps), so consider this when planning. There are two large provided bear boxes for use with everyone in the site. These are in a kitchen/cooking area, where they ask that you cook to keep the debris and scents in one area.

Very crowded but that is not the AMC or caretakers fault. The people giving it 1 star are selfish and entitled. The new caretaker Karina was welcoming and friendly.

A very cool shelter! The site itself is nestled on the backside of the Bonds ridgline between Mt. Guyot and Mt. Bond. A steep, rugged 0.2 miles down the ridge off the bondcliff trail will take you past a few tent platforms to the main shelter. If memory serves, there are roughly 10 tent platforms in the campsite. There is also overflow tent sites located along the bondcliff trail between the turnoff for the camp. The shelter itself has two sleeping platforms and can accomodate roughly 14. There is also a small front porch with suprisingly nice views of the valley! The night we stayed in camp it was PACKED. When we arrived at 3:45 we snagged one of the last tent platforms and by the evening all were taken and the shelter was full. Due to all the people in camp it was rather noisy. This is the only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5. In short; beautiful, cozy, large, but busy!

Bear boxes, outhouse, fresh water. Great campsite in the middle of the wilderness.

The elevator was out of service, and room service never showed up when I called... but otherwise, a great stay!

Stayed this past weekend. Shauna, the caretaker was pleasant and made it a point to interact with guests. She was very detailed in explaining the rules of the site.

Guyot (Gee-oh) Shelter is claimed to be one of the most remote AMC campsites in the whites. From Zealand parking lot it is about a 7.8 mile hike which takes you over Mount Zealand and Mount Guyot. Mount Guyot has spectacular above treeline views. Mount Zealand has no views so just tag that one on the way by. Prior to Mount Zealand and past the hut is the awesome views from Zeacliff. It's a short spur off of the main trail at the swamp that's worth doing. From Mount Guyot to the campsite is a short down to the col where the campsite is located about 250 feet vertical down a steep trail. All tent sites are on platforms and the caretaker fills them up so you will not be able to stake out your vestibule. Don't know what you do if it rained. There are overflow sites just south of the spur trail that heads down to the right (the caretaker fills those up too as this is the most crowded campsite in the whites also.) No privacy what so ever. Communal cooking area that is a cluster f. Water source is good and located right by the cooking area by campsite Platform 7 and the actual shelter that sleeps 12. Some platforms have a railing so that you dont fall off and are very high on one side and have views. The entire campsite is on a steep slope. See my youtube channel for details.
