Beautiful spot to stop & rest. They have expanded their area with large spots for horse trailers.. I counted ten corrals for horses... Fire pits.. all Free... Respect the land... Leave it more beautiful than you found it. Happy camping

Good sized, level pads. Clean vault toilet. Easy to get to. Great spot for free camping with no utilities. Utilities are available and also very inexpensive.

We were doing a trip to Colorado and looked for spots on the map that were a halfway point between central Texas and our final destination. We picked this campground for the 1) Convenient Location 2) Electrical hookups. We weren't expecting much, just the typical parking areas with a bathroom, but oh man. The night sky was amazing, the morning sunrise over the rolling hills with the horses stabled nearby and the cool mountainous weather. We got lucky picking this spot out. Didn't spend any time hiking around because we had to hit the road early but I would highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for a not-too-crowded but amazingly lovely place to spend a few days.

Beautiful rolling hills surrounded by mountains, dozens on dozens of well travelled hiking/horse trails, and smack-dab between the historic town of Lincoln and fort Stanton. The trails suit brand new hikers or experienced backpackers, you just have to find the right one. The park staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They provided us with maps, directions, and advice concerning the area. As far as pricing, it's free! If you're just tent camping like we were it costs nothing as long as you set up 90ft from the road. it's 5 for water and 5 for electricity, but that's for people with RVs. Lastly, be aware of the mountain lions and bears, they're all over!

Excellent little place to get off the road. Layed over here for 4 nights, did some hiking and the views were great! Can't beat 5 for electricity when it's cold at night!

Relaxing and beautiful. Horse camp with RV sites. Close to Capitan, Lincoln, Fort Stanton and Ruidoso.
