They took great care of my dad!!! He was always smiling and happy! Several of the staff cane to his funeral. They were family to him and to us!!!!

After promising they could handle our mom with dementia they then totally flipping her world upside down they now say they can't handle her. Instead of working with the family. They made up lies and now using them to kick her out. The director of nursing offered to put our mom on hospice saying she was ready to die. Our mom makes plans for tomorrow everyday. She isn't ready to die. She also said she would put her on morphine until it stopped her heart. Don't trust them they are about the money and only taking the easy residents. If all this is not enough the director tried telling us the doctors are wrong about her diagnosis.

We recently moved our sister from the CountryHouse in Omaha, NE to the Independence House at Mandarin in Lincoln. In the 4 weeks that she was at CountryHouse we noticed a measureable decline in her emotional state and her physical abilities. Boredom was her worst enemy, and she developed several disconcerting behaviorisms during her short stay there. The move has made a world of difference for her. Only one week at Independence House and we are seeing dramatic improvements in her moods, and the behaviorisms are subsiding. Augmenting her daily routine with PT and OT, my sister is regaining her strength and is no longer restricted to her wheelchair (Yeah!). Kudos to the staff at Independence House, whom we find engaging and endearing to the residents placed in their care. If you are searching for a memory care facility for a family member, don’t be fooled by the appealing “brick and mortar” options out there – just because a place ‘looks’ like home doesn’t mean it ‘feels’ like home. Take the time to observe the staff and their interactions with the residents. Then ask yourself… would I want to live here? Thank you Independence House for making good on the promise touted on CountryHouse’s website… creating “moments of joy” for my sister and for all the residents in your facility.
