RREADI is a Ugandan non-profit, community-based organization founded to undertake and influence robust and holistic rural development initiatives geared towards poverty reduction and community empowerment in rural Northern Uganda. To achieve these goals, RREADI will tailor its programs to fit the priorities and resources it identifies collaboratively with its beneficiaries. These projects will take place at the village level, which will enable the community to participate in their design and implementation. Community resources and their unique knowledge of their own situations will be the key assets that RREADI will work with; RREADI’s role will be to facilitate, connect and empower these resources. RREADI will begin working in Barongin, Alito Sub-County, Kole District. RREADI partners with the Barongin community in three distinct but intersecting project areas: Income Generation and Economic Empowerment, Health and Environment, and Education and Community Empowerment. In each of these areas, RREADI works to strengthen existing assets and resources in the community and pave the way for the people of Barongin to catalyze local development through increased capacity to invest in their own livelihoods. RREADI therefore acts a supporting mechanism to the ideas and priorities brought forth by the people of Barongin.
