Located in Largo de Santa Isabel, the Church of Santa Isabel, designed by Carlos Mandel, was the first church to be built outside the limits of the Fernandine Wall. Its construction started in 1742 by the will of D.Tomaz de Almeida, the first Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon, and it was completed only in 1763. The temple was not affected by the earthquake in 1755 and therefore on its interior decoration there are countless paintings, like the ones from Pedro Alexandrino, fine sculptures, many religious items from other churches and little chapels affected by the earthquake.
