Good station of the Underground which is spacious and is well situated in Pontinha. The trains are frequent enough and there is no need to change anywhere in order to reach the centre. It also has good connections to the airport. The ticket machines are available and not so difficult to manage for daily travel pass. The card lasts one year and can be topped up in advance. Have a good travel journey on the Underground.

Dirty, smelly, badly-maintained and noisy, the Lisbon subway competes with buses to be the worst public transportation in the Portuguese capital. Believe it or not, subway often wins. Just half of the subway cars run on weekends, bank holidays and weekdays after 8 PM, with 8 to 15-minute intervals. This leads to unpleasantly overcrowded cars. Poor cleaning standards and poor air circulation in both stations and cars. Seats are often worn-out (and passengers putting their feet on seats don't help). I spotted people smoking or urinating in Bela Vista and Intendente stations. Nobody seemed to care. Fare-dodging is a common habit: a lot of people sneak right behind a passenger before closing of barrier gates. You might find it funny, specially when that happens in front of ridiculous Security Guards who pretend not to see. Yet, be careful: it's a favorable situation for pick-pocketing and bag snatch. Badly maintained and super noisy: the level of noise and vibration is high, due to lack of maintenance and the excessive wear of the rails and wheels. Check, for example, the route from Baixa-Chiado to Santa Apolonia: it's just 10-year-old, but as noisy as a ride on a mine railway.

Excellent metro system , good that they have extended it to the airport the extension from Oriente - Aeroporto was integrated on July 17 , 2012 and today it is July 17 , 2016 so today it has officialy been 4 years since the extension to the airport was completed. The system is reliable and gets you to anywhere in Lisbon except for alfama and belem you'll need to take a tram from cais do sodre station
