Mathieu is an excellent teacher both in person and online and I have got a huge amount from his classes. Why not sign up from wherever you live; you don't have to be in Belfast (I'm not) to get the benefit of his knowledge, enthusiasm and teaching skills. You wont regret it.

I 100% would recommend Mathieu! His work is beautiful and interesting as a photographer but I'd recommend him majorly for his teaching and mentorship programme. I've been doing an 8-week mentorship with him and felt he has really helped me improve as a business owner and photographer! He is very approachable, friendly and listens to you. I benefited from finding my worth as a photographer to learning how to pitch to working with agencies and finding my market. Mathieu has so much experience and is a great teacher. I'll be coming back to do more soon again!

After having had the opportunity to experience many photo shoots during my career within the music industry, I recommend Mathieu Decodts as being one of the best. It’s not just about clicking the button with Mathieu - he takes an ‘holistic’ approach to the session where he makes room to discover your real objectives and personality, which are vital to a successful result. Technically speaking there is no limit as years of experience is at his fingertips using state-of-the-art equipment. It really was a seamless process to experiment with creative ideas during the shoot ‘on the fly’, as Mathieu is in complete command of his craft with many effective lighting and photographic skills under his belt. The post production process of image selection and ‘rendering’ (raw files have to be processed to manageable media file formats) was very good too, with Mathieu going that extra mile to accommodate a rather pedantic customer! In short I have no hesitation in recommending the services of Mathieu Decodts Photography and will certainly be using them again in the future. I have been on a number of Mathieu's events, two photo walks and most recently an Improvers photography course. He has a great ability to help students see an image from a new perspective. He has a relaxed manner yet his knowledge and experience bring a depth to his tuition which makes his courses very good value and enable any level of photographer to learn and improve. One of his strengths is demonstrating how creating good images is not about the gear but about the photographer and their vision. He has a host of tips and hacks which can save a fortune yet achieve the same results as expensive kit. A breath of fresh air.

If like me, you don’t know your aperture from your elbow, Mathieu’s class is an excellent place to start learning the difference! Trying to understand how to use a digital camera can be daunting and I admit I was a little nervous when I decided to book the online beginner’s class via the Crescent Arts Centre a few months ago. I was hopeful that I would be able to keep up with any technical language or ideas and not get lost, but I didn’t need to worry. Mathieu went to great pains to put everyone at their ease and stressed repeatedly that it’s not about the camera equipment so much as the skills that you, as a photographer can develop. He was more than happy to go over things again and for us to learn at our own pace. Above all, his passion for photography, his own skills and varied experience shone through and the classes were highly informative and fun. I have so much more to learn, but I feel much more confident. The course was excellent value for money, and I would do another of Mathieu’s courses in the future.

My partner bought me a lovely camera for xmas but i didnt know how to use it out of auto mode . I had looked around different classes but none were what i wanted , then i seen an advert for Mathieu's class online at the crescent arts centre and i thought i would give it a go . Mathieu is a very down to earth easy going type of guy and went through all the basic stuff for setting up the camera to eventually have the confidence to go to full manual mode , which after 8 weeks i now do all the time , im still very much a beginner but with the help obtained from Mathieu's class i feel i can do it even though i make loads of mistakes i now know how to fix them. I cant wait for the next set of lessons as an improver . The classes were fun witb plenty of laughs and this was down to the very personable Mathieu, would i recommend this class ? With out a doubt, and its such value for money you just cant go wrong
