What a great cafe! We visited on Sunday, with 3 hot, hungry and tired young children. Our kids were exactly at their best, but the waitress immediately appeared with colouring pencils, pirate cut-outs to draw and colour in, games, like wooden noughts and crosses, and other little activities. This was so perfectly timed and so spot-on for getting them engaged and distracted while we ordered our food. The food arrived quickly and was perfect. The children all opted for the 'Bucket full of fun'; a bucket and spade, which they get to keep, with a sandwich of their choice, little cupcake and sweets to decorate it themselves, crudites, crisps and a drink. They were thrilled and thought the bucket 'lunch box' was great. We had delicious quiche lorraine and a posh home-made fishfinger sandwich with homemade tartare sauce. Although we were quite full by then, the cakes and scones looked too good to pass up, so we shared a traditional cream tea with freshly baked scone, cream and a fab selection of jams. My husband had an apricot and almond scone with apricot jam. Yummy! We left feeling very satisfied indeed - what a brilliant cafe, we thought! So pretty too, with charming bone china tea cups and saucers, floral fabric tablecloths and a lovely atmosphere. But it gets even better, because after we'd driven all the way home to London, we realised that we'd left a bag of all our beach stuff in the cafe. A quick phone call to the cafe and they parceled up and posted our bag to us on the same day, all with good humour and friendliness. We can't wait for our next weekend trip to Littlehampton so that we can go and sample some of the other food treats on The Moorings menu!
