Never been fishing before but my 7 year old son wanted to go. Bought some equipment from a tack shop and went to West Lake Course. The owner came down to help set up the rod and give my son some tips. It absolutely made his day. The lake is beautiful too and he caught 7 (small) fish on his first day!

I'm surprised there is no reviews of this beautiful lake. Been there myself couple of times now and here Ill try to make some quick review. Pros: The lake is beautiful with 3 or 4 islands in the middle(unfortunately none available for fishing). It's mainly carp fishery with mixed size(caught one of 2 pounds today, but from what I know there is two figures too,and not few). The owner is nice and helpful. The price is probably one of the cheapest possible on top of extremely cheap annual membership. In 5 minutes drive from the Four Crosses Village(mainly because the road is extremely narrow and above 20-25 is risky). The lake is surrounded by trees(some of the pegs are in there). There is lovely camping. According to the board info you can buy bait and groundbait if you need one. The rules are extremely reasonable - use common sense and don't swim.No silly rules. Cons: Not designed for disabled anglers. If you are one simply don't bother - the pegs are on lower level and you can't access any of those I have seen with wheelchair. Half of the lake is around 20 inches deep and I find that a bit of inconvenience. Overall it's really nice place to have some rest in the beautiful powys countryside.
We called here on the off chance to do a spot of night fishing which the owner doesnt normally allow however he bent his rules for a night and let us..first class people here friendly and helpful and a lovely site ...first class
Lovely people, very helpful!
