This review refers to a stay between 1st and 8th August 2020.The house is exceptional.The location by the loch shore has beautiful views of a very scottish scene of loch, islands and mountains. The house is very modern and Francois has though of nearly every detail to make you feel you are staying in a very special property.Well done!.Unfortunately what would be a 10 out of 10 for us has to be left at an 8 out of ten due to the hard to understand choice of bed sizes,small doubles and the smallest of single beds, more suitable for a child.Even our daughter and partner found it difficult, uncomfortable to sleep in a double bed .My wife and I could not share a double bed due to the unsuitable bed size and thankfully we were only 6 and one of us could use one other room.The funny thing is the rooms could have easily taken a larger bed .We cannot fathom out what the thinking was here when it came to deciding to buy beds of sizes that most people would not choose nowadays for their own homes.I suppose nothing is totally perfect and the house is perfect in all other areas.So if you can live with the bed sizes we thoroughly recommend that you stay in Slumbay House.You will love the experience.The back garden offers walking access to the Loch shore from where you easily launch a kayak (we travelled with 3) or other water sports equipment.Kayaking in the loch is safe and most enjoyable.

Our family of four made our second visit to Slumbay House in July 2020. What a house in what a location! Set within easy walking distance of Lochcarron village. The house has a large ground floor kitchen/dining/living double height space with modern wood burner and patio doors onto a decking over looking the Loch - a view you will never tire of. Off each side of the living space are two ensuite double bedrooms, each also with patio doors onto the terrace. Upstairs are a double bedroom with wonderful views, a single bedroom and a family bathroom. We've had two great breaks at Slumbay House. The first time, prior to Covid in 2019, included a seal safari from Plockton, a visit to Eilean Donan Castle, Applecross and Attadale gardens. Our second trip was just post Lockdown in 2020 and included a visit to Strome Castle ruins, a 10 mile hike, a return visit to Attadale and a bracing swim in the Loch! Both trips included many evenings playing the board game Risk (left by the owner) by the fire. Wonderful 'get away from it all' holidays. We can thoroughly recommend a one or two week stay at Slumbay House!
Our family of 5 had a great time at Slumbay House for a week in July 2019. Lovely new build with all the extras you would expect and more. There are still discussions on the game of Scottish Monopoly we had with visitors. You will warm in this house in all weathers. We were lucky with the weather as despite the forcasts it seemed to do the opposite, even spending a day on "The Sands" a sandy beach near to Applecross House. I am sure we will be returners!
What a beautiful house in a stunning location. Spent 3 nights at Slumbay House in the company of three friends and I could not find fault with the the accommodation. The house was equipped to a very high standard. The beds were very comfortable and the en suite bathroom was luxurious. The decking terrace to the rear of the property afforded amazing views of Loch Carron and the mountains. The sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking. Would definitely reccomend this as a base for touring Wester Ross and will definitely be back.
