A gem hidden in plain view! I have walked past this dozens of times and finally went inside. It is the oldest church in the City of London and steeped in amazing history. The exhibits in the crypt are well done and include some Roman floors and lots of interesting history.
Not only is this a lovely and very well maintained church, which was repaired after the Second World War, but its crypt houses a small museum. This museum has artefacts and documents ranging from the marriage register entry for John Adams but also the birth register entry for William Penn. It also has a Saxon Arch meaning that church has been on this site for many years.
Beautiful Old Church. Steeped in history with connections to Royalty as well as the Knights Templers and heads of both Country and State. Magnificently restored after WW2 and kept as perfect as you can get. Go for church service any Sunday and have a great time looking at all the artifacts and underground church vaults and Alters. Light a candle for a sinner or 2 or even for yourself. Make sure to drop a few pounds in the box on the way out.
The church is absolutely beautiful and a quiet heaven in the heart of the City. There is a small museum underneath the building and also a cafe.
