Mr Paul Ursell was recommended by my optician. I’d had excimer laser surgery 28 years ago and was anxious to find out which cataract possibilities were open to me, as I’d read online that the early laser treatments could complicate lens implants. I met Mr Ursell at Parkside Hospital and it was quickly obvious that he was a seasoned practitioner at ease with the specialised issues that concerned me. He explained that the previous laser surgery precluded the implant of multifocal lenses, so even though he could achieve near perfect distance vision, I’d still have to wear reading glasses as before. That seemed like a perfectly acceptable compromise. The cataract removal procedure was promptly arranged, with four weeks’ interval between each eye. The ophthalmic day unit at Parkside hums like a well oiled machine and each procedure was over in about 20 minutes. Next day everything seemed much brighter, and within a few days the promised improvement to visual acuity was becoming apparent. The hidden bonus is the greater confidence near-perfect eyesight has given me. Much like the original surgery to correct short sight, it’s a real game changer. I am very pleased with the results and grateful to Mr Ursell and his Parkside colleagues for the high standard of consultation, care and follow-up. I recommend this Cataract Doctor with no hesitation.
