My daughter has just joined Debate Mate and is really enjoying it. She tends to be quite shy and has not wanted to participate in some of her regular clubs which moved online. However, with Debate Mate the groups are small and the tutors really engage with the children and ensure that everyone participates. She is really enthusiastic about it and enjoys telling us all about it after the session. I highly recommend it, great for building confidence and learning to articulate your points of view...

Absolutely phenomenal course! Firstly, my daughter is socially awkward and somewhat reserved, yet I have seen her blossom since starting Debate Mate. We initially booked a short programme - my daughter was reluctant and took some coaxing but from the very first lesson, she was hooked. She is now doing the 12-week programme and I cannot quite explain how much she has grown in confidence, poise and assertiveness. The programme itself, addresses many current issues but fun ones too (I shan't spoil things by giving anything away). As well as coming up with convincing pros and cons for a topic (trying to win the debate), the children get to hear things from other perspectives, in a safe and comfortable environment. One of the ways that Debate Mate is particularly successful is the regular pairing up of the children. By splitting the children between sides, they enjoy an opportunity to collaborate and co-operate as a team. This has been really enjoyable for my daughter who has been homeschooled since the March Lockdown. Finally, the tutors are thoughtful, knowledgeable and inclusive. Every child is encouraged and no child is left behind! I cannot recommend Debate Mate more!
