Renting with Dollar was my worst experience, as it turn out to be a scam. Here is what I have experienced. A guy at the counter asked me if I want a pre-paid toll-charge and I clearly said 'No' to him at least twice. However, he has put toll-charge on my bill. Same has happened with additional service! He didn't even mention to me about this, just included in the bill. Basically they sell you everything without even asking (and if you say 'No' it won't change anything). Total scam. We ordered a Focus as we were going camping - so needed a bit of room! But we were given a mini, saying \its the same class because it has four doors\. This was obviously disappointing, especially as they said there was no other option. We had to take it or have nothing and have our trip ruined. The person serving us said they'd had other customers \kicking off\ about this before. Maybe this would be a good sign to listen to the feedback your customers give you? If we want a smaller car, we will order one.
Scam - They tell you you need a credit card with your name on it (don't accept prepaid cards etc) even if you have a passport and a driver's licence from your own country. But of course, they will happily take your money, and only offer a partial refund! Crooks!
Convinced us to purchase upgrade- provided us with a faulty car! engine popped on the motorway then broke down and had to get it towed (which we were told would be at our own cost!!) 4 months later I am still arguing to be refunded the upgrade fee plus the days we didn't have the car for and they are refusing. Completely unreasonable. Awful customer service, awful company. NEVER USE!
Pre booked online and paid half towards the rental with the rest to be paid upon collection (this was the only option). Then emailed saying I'd have to bring it back another day and for \their\ inconvenience (when it was actually more inconvenient for me to bring the car back at their suggested date and time) I'd have to pay an each 50. I did respond to explain that this suggestion would be more difficult for me but I could do but not happy to pay the extra. They then cancelled my order stating that a refund will take 21 days! I now need to search and pay out for another car rental whilst out of pocket.
