The Faculty of Information and Media Studies Students’ Council (FIMSSC) is a student-run organization at Western University that works to enhance the FIMS undergraduate student experience. We work towards providing a variety of opportunities by which students can become involved in the faculty, as well as aiding FIMS students academically and socially. The FIMSSC is comprised of over twenty-five eager and passionate student leaders that have either been elected or appointed to their role. Through FIMSSC, students can get involved in a number of different ways: volunteering for the Street Team, the Advocacy Team, working on and being published in the alternative publication OPENWIDE, and attending FIMSSC events and initiatives. The FIMSSC runs events and programming throughout the year, including formals, workshops, speaker series, undergraduate preview days, the Media Arts Festival and more. We work to connect students with opportunities within the faculty and externally in the Western and London community. FIMSSC represents all students in FIMS and, as such, lobbies to the Faculty and represents them on University Students’ Council on behalf of student interests in order to ensure that the needs of all FIMS students are adequately met.
