Struggled to get my bike booked in everywhere else in the area. Brought my bike in to Halfords on the day (didn’t call ahead) and they said they could check it in right away. Even better, the very helpful Noel said that if I had any errands to run he could turn it around in an hour! Brilliant customer service and very reasonable on price! Highly recommend!

Credit where credit's due, I didn't have the same bad experience other reviewers report with a bike maintenance on this shop. The "gold" service is cheaper than competition (although the devil for these things is in the details), and I ended up getting back my bicycle in very good shape (I ride 30km every day for my commute and am very sensitive to any change in settings, grinding, loosening of the bottom bracket, etc.). A very light issue with the pedal rotation that another shop didn't even spot was fixed, the feel of the bike is very good, etc. I was impressed by the initial assessment done with me (another shop broke my derailleur once, and then claimed it was already broken when I brought the bicycle in...), and the fact that they price checked a couple of components that needed checking against competition and ended up giving me a 10 discount over their original price. I also didn't find the attitude of the guys annoying in any way, they were clearly doing their best and I appreciated their help, so it looks like the shop might be getting feedback on board.
The staff were friendly, but I'm sorry to say that the service was really poor. I took my bike in to be checked over and have a service, and I told the guys that I had a problem with the gears and the chain kept jamming. So they had the bike for a week, and when I went to collect it, I was told that only the cables had needed replacing, the chain was fine and everything else was OK. So off I went. The gears were still all over the place and I had to take it back in THREE times that same afternoon. Eventually, they told me that they had 'adjusted something' to sort out the problem with the gears. I'm pretty sure they just wanted to get rid of me. I had already made it clear that I wasn't after a freebie and that I was happy to leave the bike with them again and pay for whatever was causing the problem to be sorted out or replaced. They were not interested. To cut a very long story short, on my first ride after my 'service' at Halfords I had further problems with my bike and decided to take it elsewhere. The first thing I was told (and shown) was that the chain was on it's last legs, the cassette needed replacing and the rear derailer hanger was completely bent. My advice to anyone planning on taking a bike to Halfords in Putney: make sure you know exactly what it is that needs to be done and how to check that it has been carried out properly. I didn't and now I'm out of pocket!
Exceptional Customer Experience. The staff are extremely helpful and a great asset to Halfords business.
I brought a product that was missing some of the parts and the staff went above and beyond to make sure I got everything I needed to make it work. Very friendly, helpful and so clued up.
Bad customer service. Every time the boys seem blasé and too cool for school to show any level enthusiasm. And the managers seem more concerned about bossing the boys around (power trip) than tending to the customer. That's in store. Last time I dropped my bike off for a simple repair - no one called me for days (after promising a call). When I called myself, they said it has been ready for days. I could have really used my bike! Apologised very causally for the lack of communication and left no explanation. I just don't think that's a way to run a business.
**DO NOT USE FOR BIKE REPAIRS** Lazy staff (with one notable exception – she carries all the rest of the staff with her). They are good at selling you stuff but don't know anything about bikes.
Very professional team that really know what they're talking about. They're also extremely fair and didn't try and upsell although they definitely could have.
