Just had my hair cut and blow dried at LHAA Camden by Fran (student hairdresser) and I am honestly over the moon with it. I went in wanting a haircut and a balayage treatment but as I hadn't had a patch test, they advised they wouldn't be able to tone my hair which means it would look brassy. They also advised that because I'd coloured my hair with a box dye within the past year, bleaching it now could damage it. They carried out a strand test to confirm this and explained the process to me. They recommended that I have my patch test today and wait 6-8 weeks to have it coloured to ensure that it won't be damaged when they bleach and tone it. Honestly, I love the fact that they were so transparent and passionate about ensuring that they were protecting my hair, even though it means my stylist missed out on the chance to practice the balayage treatment and I didnt end up spending as much money. In regards to the haircut, Fran did a beautiful job. She sought the support of her supervisor when she was feeling less confident and took on board all constructive criticism. Her supervisor (forgotten her name I'm afraid) was incredibly supportive throughout and kept a close eye to ensure that the result came out beautifully. She also carried out a check at the end to ensure that the cut was even and had Fran take care of any very small mistakes. The blowdry was where Fran really shone. She was confident with the entire process and didn't need any support to achieve gorgeous volume and curls. She consulted me throughout about the look I wanted to achieve and ensured I was happy with the end result. Overall, I am incredibly happy with my experience and will definitely be booking in for the balayage treatment in the new year. Please don't trust the negative reviews! You can be assured that a supervisor will always be around to catch any mistakes before they happen and you will be giving a student a chance to practice their trade.

After seeing reviews here I actually wanted to cancel my appointment but I felt bad and didn't want to disappoint Michael the hairdresser who offered me free cut in one of the Facebook groups. Michael since the first minute was behaving like he was a celebrity hair stylist not a student. He made me feel very uncomfortable giving wird comments about my face shape, my hair roots and even my hair in general. I made him aware my hair were slightly dry as I have a thyroid problem but trust me it wasn't like my hair were impossible to style or cut, it is actually very common disease. I told him about it out of politeness not that I ever had to say it before to any hair dresser. Michael was very distanced and behaved most of the time like he was giving me a big favour and like I don't know anything about hair care. At some point he even said oh! You didn't color your hair for few weeks didn't you?! I can see your roots! ( yes that'd why I was getting my haircut and then wanted to die my hair, hello:) The hair cut it self was pretty good apart of the fringe which Michael decided to cut asymertcally ( not suitable for my face) with out telling me! I was shocked. His teacher wasn't much better, very self centered and arrogant, when they spoke about my cut ( over my head) they didn't even look at me once or asked if I am OK with everything. I never expected to be treated like that. PS. To Naomi the manager of the school. ( that's what I have been told her name is, she was absent during my appointment), you really should have a closer look at how your staff treats the models and make sure we are treated with respect we deserve. Nobody does a favour to anyone here. Its our time and hair in exchange for a haircut.

Yet again. Teachers push haircut into what they want and ignore what's actually asked for.... last couple times this place has become worse. Quality of students worse than before too. Also, students aren't taught to listen to customer, just teacher. ----- Passable haircut. Never got exactly what I wanted, but has been wearable. Been 3x as I was always unimpressed on why hairdressers generally cannot easily cut short, fine, curly hair and wanted to help hairdresser students learn. My assessment would be that they are not taught well. Most of us have learned what out hair needs and when we explain, the hairdresser has been taught to do what they want not I want. A few specific comments: (1) if I want a lot of drastic layering through full length of hair, do it instead of layering only the top inch. (2) if I need ends shattered, do it instead of half do it around full head. Fine curls will puff otherwise. (3) If I want back very short down to front long, then do it instead of making back almost all same length. (4) if I want it cut center part but wear side part, student hairdresser needs to feel empowered by teacher to speak up when the Teacher is giving advice that doesn't work for this. (5) listen to student. Teachers seem to assume what customer wants without having heard the same detail the student did.

LHAA has been a great opportunity for me to begin my career in the hairdressersing industry. They are a well established and wonderful team of professional teachers in the hair industry. I recommend this apprenticeship on a high level of praise.
