Arrived at Wythes road after walking through rather run down streets with boarded up properties, and found that there is no hotel. 64 Wythes road (Metro London City Hotel) is in fact a house converted into bedsits. The person who answered the door said that he would arrange for us to be taken to the hotel which was some minutes away by car; I was very angry as the 'hotel' had been booked due to its proximity to the airport. We were bundled into someone's car, driven rather recklessly to be deposited in Pier road. NO hotel, just more bedsits, entrance through a door between two fast food places. You can get a train in the morning, we were told! The room had been refurbished, and the sheets were clean. However the windows were broken, closed at the bottom but with a large gap round the sides and top (I know how to close a window; they were broken). Around 9:30 pm someone in the room above decided to do the hovering. The noise from the heavy traffic on the road outside inhibited sleep, some buses/ trucks made the bed shake/ vibrate. When sat on the loo my knees were against the wall. In short, this is a deception - there is NO hotel, and the name designed to trick you into thinking your are near the airport and getting a proper hotel.

Room very basic but apparently not the MOST basic room. Friendly staff, a couple of blips with our room were quickly sorted. Great location.
Easy to get to and a great way to get out of London without having to deal with the major airports. It is a great Gateway Airport.
Please be careful with this hotel and read the reviews on TripAdvisor, a lot of the imagery on their listings are not clear, there are a lot of shattered windows which are bordered up and is clearly more of a hostel than a hotel. Do some research on this hotel before you book as the owner also lied to us over the phone about payments which also included hang ups, I strongly wouldn't recommend staying here.

This is not a hotel.It is advertised on various reputable websites.They cancelled our reservation before we arrived then charged us full price. We had to find alternative accommodation. It is a house on a council estate. I was intimidated and have still not received a refund
