Worst post office ever. Used to be a fully serviced site with multiple customer booths now its half another shop and barely a till with staff. The Post Office (as a company/service) overall has definitely gone downhill over the years.

I like this post office as it is convenient. However after the last refurbishment the quality of service has suffered. Even.when.there is no queue you always wait to be served. I feel that there is a plethora of merchandise in the premises that makes it quite crowded and untidy.

Last week I sent an envolope with 2 necklaces and they charged me for a \large letter\ price. Today I sent the same envolope with 1 necklace and they charged me for a \small parcel\ price. So I sent the same things by paying around 2.5 pounds more. When I asked the reason for that price, I've been told that that what came out. I am a costumer and I am using a service by paying money, at least it is worth explaining the reason for charging more.I don't deserve this behaviour. I definetely would not go there if there was another shipping shop nearby.

BE AWARE - CHECK RECEIPTS AND PRICES- I don’t usually write reviews but I feel a duty to make everyone aware so they are not subject to being ripped off. Everyone is generally quite pleasant here but there is one employee (blonde hair) who overcharges, or is just ultimately incompetent. On several occasions I have paid bills in cash (for sum of 180) and checked the receipt to see that a payment of 1.80 has been made. Was told it was a simple mistake. Make sure you check your receipt whilst standing at the desk to rectify it there and then. Was also asked to pay 1.50 for a “free” Royal Mail returns label to be “printed”. I have been returning parcels using the free print/ post WR code service at post office for years, and i’ve never been charged for the printing of labels.

This Post Office is a very attractive building (and should be listed) that has been allowed to look very neglected both in exterior and interior, it's neglect has a negative impact on this shopping area. It certainly will not help STITCH who have recently moved into this premises if they chose to do nothing to provide the exterior, they have also made it worst with their tatty sign on the post office window instead of a pretty sign on the door, and their suppose to be creative as well. The paint work on the window frames above the this Post Office/shop are all chipped and all in serious need of a coat of paint, a very affordable job! The beautiful arch windows are plastered with notices nobody cares to read that only result to giving a tatty look to the building, (there should be a decent notice board on the side of the building for notices) the large wooden doors need varnishing or a suitable coloured paint (all affordable). I wish those who are responsible for buildings on the high road would NOT be allowed to neglect or trash these buildings because it's what makes an area look rundown and uninviting. Shop owners need to take better responsibility to help improve trading in the area. Hanging baskets (filled with sessional plants, evergreen plants) at each side of this Post Office will also help make it attractive and aid trade for STITCH.
