I had never ever been to the Purcell Room before. Very pleasant, small concert venue, part of the Southbank auditoria. If there was something particular I wanted to hear, would definitely go again.

Located in the same building as the Queen Elizabeth Hall next to the Festival Hall on Southbank, the Purcell Room is fairly small and the rake of the seating isn't the best so your view of the stage can easily be blocked by the person in front. As for what is shown, I've only been there once for the premiere os a Noh play, written/performed jointly by American and Japanese nationals, which was educational and interesting.

This modern events room is part of London's Southbank Centre, and is, without any sense of hyperbole or exaggerration, perfect for live music. The sound quality is beyond incredible, seats are comfy, and the foyer area is spacious to allow for a comfortable pre- or post-concert drink or bite to eat, all inside a snazzy, brutalist-inspired building.
