Matt Anderson is truly inspiring music teacher. I'm preparing for my Jazz saxophone Grade 5 and his explanation of complex Jazz ideas has made me wonder why didn't I understand that before. Thank you, I really value the lessons. I believe Matt Anderson is a brilliant music educationalist, whatever level the student. I found his lessons logical, practice based and imparting a love for the music. I'm more than happy to recommend Matt Anderson

I found Matt slightly randomly on a music teacher's directory online in December 2015: my daughter who was then 11, and playing clarinet, was keen to take up the saxophone. She had progressed through the ABRSM grades quite rigidly in learning piano and clarinet, I was keen for a a more relaxed approach and we agreed with Matt to learn the instrument in a fun way and from a jazz perspective rather than the scales and pieces approach. Matt has been an inspiring teacher, playing with Eva as he teaches, taking on a range of tunes from jazz standards, to pop songs (careless whisper solo - obvs.), and things Eva has come across herself - keeping her engaged and enthused as she progresses with lessons every two weeks. She joined the NYJO jazz ensemble and Matt helped her to learn the tricky notations, and riffs she needed to step up, in addition to working on standard and tunes from the abrsm grades 3, 4 and 5 syllabus for fun. Finally she recently took her Grade 5 jazz exam - and passed with a really good 130 distinction mark, and that is a testament to Matt's skill as a teacher after only 2 and a half years learning. I would highly recommended Matt as a London-based teach - he is a great guy, happy to travel to our house for lessons, and has been instrumental in Eva's musical development, helping her to develop the confidence to play jazz saxophone in a variety of bands.
