The view of the riverfront on one side of the restaurant is amazing (see photo) . We both ordered crab as a starter which was delicious. It wasn't a whole half shell but it was most crab meat presented beautifully on the plate as opposed to being mostly mayonnaise. We ordered the Venison Wellington for 2 which unfortunately took a while to come. The waiters were very apologetic. I will point out that they were stingy with the bread which if our main had been quicker would have been acceptable. We waited for over an hour though and I needed more bread! The spread that arrived with the Wellington was large and delicious. It came with many different vegetables and the Wellington itself was sublime. Sadly, it got to 10pm so we could not explore the dessert menu but the service was excellent despite our main taking so long. However, we both agreed that the main was well worth the wait.

Nice day with my dear friends and good food. Amazing location with a beautiful landscape on the Thames. Staff friendly and helpful.

Visited in September for a joint birthday of my dad and sister and have to admit, I would rather have picked somewhere else entirely for what is meant to be portrayed as a \dress up dinner\ venue. Service was poor - from initial booking on the website asking about \special requests or notes\ - I had asked for a window view/ best view possible for the restaurant and river (considering its marketed as a viewpoint kind of restaurant) and we were seated right near the door and in the centre of the restaurant (considering it was cold in the evening this wasn't appreciated). When we asked to move the waiters and staff looked at our party In disgust as if they took offence. They were slow on service the whole night and then said they couldn't allow us to cut the birthday day we had brought without charging us an extra 5 per head (25 extra on top of what was already a 250 bill), or we had to order a dessert in order for them to allow it. The food was the only thing that made up for the experience but even that came seriously delayed and portion sizes were quite small, which would have been OK if the food quality was higher. Overall a very disappointing visit, and I wouldn't recommend believing their website or marketing for being a premium kind of restaurant. Its definitely somewhere I won't be returning again.

Views overlooking the Thames and the South Bank but that’s not all. Food at Skylon is very good. Service is also friendly and efficient. Worth a visit for comfort food. I do however, agree with the comment that It has a kind of a weird vibe. Doesn't feel quite as classy as the pictures make it look. Maybe because the indoor space is so large it has a sort of convention center feel. Lots of potential due to the quality of the food, but the atmosphere could use a bit of freshening up.

Four of us dined here for a Birthday celebration. We opted for the set menu as the value is fantastic. The food was mediocre. The portions were very small but perhaps that is to be expected as we ordered from the set menu. However, we had the best waiter (friendly and so attentive) He topped up our glasses every ten minutes or so and when we decided to stay long after our meal had finished, we were not pressurised to leave. Also, we opted not to have dessert but the waiter noted that it was my sisters Birthday and emerged with a dessert plate (complete with candle!) of fudge and other various delights. Definitely one of the best waiters I have ever encountered. If we were to return to order from the main menu, I would hope the portions would be larger and the food a little tastier. The views and service were absolutely fantastic though.
