The V&A is a museum that homes a very diverse collection of art, history, jewels, decor, architecture, and fashion. It is unlike the Tate museums but a museum with more “practical” art. The ambiance of the courtyard is really calm especially surrounded by the hydrangeas, their carrot cake is also 10/10.

Founded in 1852, The Victoria and Albert Museum in London is the world's largest museum of applied and decorative arts and design, as well as sculpture, housing a permanent collection of over 2.27 million objects and it is 5 stories high. It was another July 2019 rainy day and this place was near where I was staying along with being on the London Pass. I wish I would have known how massive this place was and how easily you can get lost it in. Check out a map before you go. I really enjoyed the statues, jewelry, Beatrice Potter artwork, and more.

If you are thinking of buying gifts from the museum shop from overseas, be sure you understand what you are ordering! I ordered assorted kimono notecards, thinking I would get a few assorted cards and I got one card. I also ordered five pocket mirrors, also assorted, and got five of the same one :/ Check sizes as well, I ordered a Japanese fan and it is child-sized. Buying souvenirs when you’re there would be fine, but paying a hefty shipping fee for what you think are going to be great Christmas gifts only to end up with small or duplicate items is super disappointing. Going to the museum was to be a highlight of my trip; I’m so bummed after receiving the shipment that I’m not sure I will go at all now.

It’s a free entry museum and it’s next door with Natural History Museum. V&A is a lovely museum with an extraordinarily beautiful building. Soaring ceiling, fascinating flooring patterns and also it has a stunning courtyard. Highly recommended..

The Victoria and Albert Museum (often abbreviated as the V&A) in London is the world's largest museum of applied and decorative arts and design, as well as sculpture, housing a permanent collection of over 2.27 million objects. It was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The V&A is located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in an area known as "Albertopolis" because of its association with Prince Albert, the Albert Memorial and the major cultural institutions with which he was associated. These include the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Royal Albert Hall and Imperial College London. The museum is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. As with other national British museums, entrance is free. The V&A covers 12.5 acres (5.1 ha)[5] and 145 galleries. Its collection spans 5,000 years of art, from ancient times to the present day, from the cultures of Europe, North America, Asia and North Africa. However, the art of antiquity in most areas is not collected. The holdings of ceramics, glass, textiles, costumes, silver, ironwork, jewellery, furniture, medieval objects, sculpture, prints and printmaking, drawings and photographs are among the largest and most comprehensive in the world.

One of my favourite museums in London, and there's some strong competition! Have seen several excellent, beautifully presented exhibitions at the V&A, though it's worth a visit anytime as the permanent collections are extensive and fascinating. Love the fashion pieces and photography. Always make time for the shop too! Can't wait to visit again in the future.

I've visited the V&A several times, most recently for the Dior exhibit, and it never fails. The exhibits are fabulous, and more varied than most art museums. I just love the collection of jewelry and the small exhibit on the West End. Also, the collection of famous casts is so unique. You'll never get this close to Michelangelo's David in Italy! An absolute must-see when in London. Save time to walk around the neighborhood and grab food at the numerous restaurants by the South Kensington tube stop.
