This is a lovely little memorial to the victims of the Second World War. The memorial sculpture is called Twelve Responses to Tragedy and commemorates the innocent people who were repatriated to the Soviet and Communist governments at the conclusion of the war. Innocent people who were handed over by the allies despite knowing full well the fate that awaited.
Twelve Responses to Tragedy by British sculptor Angela Conner. Dedicated in 1986 and a replacement for Angela's previous memorial sculpture which had been damaged by vandals. Also known as the Yalta Memorial - commemorates people displaced as a result of the Yalta conference at the end of World War II. The memorial sits in the centre of a tiny garden with seating, opposite the V&A museum and Thurloe Square garden. Bus 14, 14a, C1 and N17. South Ken tube station.
Located near Cromwell Rd, just opposite side of the V&A museum. This memorial was placed here by members of all parties in both houses of parliament and by many other sympathizers in memory of the countless innocent men women and children from the soviet union and other east European states who were imprisoned and died at the hands after being repatriated at the conclusion of the second world war. The memorial is known as Twelve Responses to Tragedy (or the Yalta Memorial), and commemorates people repatriated to Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union as a result of the Yalta Conference at the conclusion of World War II.
Quiet little corner garden in one of the crowded parts of london. Nice escape from the crowd.
