Hannah Mooney is an excellent Solicitor. Sensitive and aware of her clients needs. I felt comfortable with her when I was indecisive about my house move. Despite the problems of the pandemic she found time to explain correct legal procedures. Always someone available to answer any concerns. She assisted Jane Williams throughout.

Dissapointed by the service we received from Martin Tollhurst solicitors, we used them as conveyancers for the sale and purchase of my mothers property who was ill. I would never, ever recommend then and would warn anyone contemplating using their services to refrain from doing so. They dissapointed in a number of ways, specifically; - We could never reach them on the telephone. We managed to get through to our conveyancer on one occasion, every other time, we failed to reach them, messages were rarely returned unless they wanted something from us. - We pointed out that communication between MT and our estate agents had not been the best as the Agent had advised the memorandum of sale had gone through and MT advised it hadn't. We were told in a rather prickly way their communication was good rather than MT trying to identify what had gone on and either learn from it or work out what had happened. - On completion day, there was a four hour gap between our sale completing and Mum completing on her purchase. We could not get through to anyone in the office despite trying some 8 or 9 times over this time period, my seriously ill mother then had to be driven around in a car as we were in the first week of lockdown for four hours in some considerable distress. We were at serious risk of failing to complete that day with all that would have entailed in respect of being in limbo. Our conveyancer had the day off and her secretary, when she finally returned our call, acknowledged she had simply been waiting for a partners signature and gave a vague apology. We have not heard from them again, no apology from the conveyancer herself for the distress caused by failing to get a simple signature in good time. I am incredibly dissapointed with their service, both in terms of communication and the failure for four hours to get a simple signature. They caused serious distress to my elderly vulnerable mother and I would steer clear of them as a business.

Used this firm as a first time buyer and, safe to say, I will not be returning for any future property transactions. Lack of communication (unless you chase them) was the biggest headache but in addition to this, the process wasn't transparent and for the total price that was charged, you would naturally expect a lot better. Maybe I just got dealt a short straw with the solicitor that was working on my case but I would not recommend this firm for anyone in a similar position (first time buyer).

We have just completed a first-time purchase with many different variables and complications, and Jane Williams and her team at Martin Tolhurst – particularly Hannah – handled everything as smoothly as possible. We were kept updated to any changes, communication was (office lockdown permitting) prompt and clear, and every change or issue along the way was explained to us as many times as we needed to understand the complexities of the situation. The sellers’ solicitors were appropriately chased and prevented from dragging their feet at every opportunity, as they seemed to want to do, and the team at Martin Tolhurst were continually pushing for things in our favour to make our purchase as painless as possible. It was sometimes hard to get hold of a team member that was working on our conveyancing, but this is due to the sheer volume of conveyances taking place considering the SDLT holiday – and even with the odds against them the communication was perfectly acceptable. We will not hesitate to return to Martin Tolhurst for any of our future housing needs.

Samantha Newton and her team are fabulous. She did everything in her power to ensure I got into my new home as quickly as possible. When issues arose with the lease on my old property she was quick thinking and the issue was resolved quickly. I can’t recommend Samantha Newton enough. I’m hoping this home is my forever home but if I ever move again I know I’d be in touch with Samantha Newton and her team.

I have been very impressed with Martin Tolhurst Solicitors (Longfield) -they provided the conveyancing for our first house purchase. In what I know has been a very busy time for them, they got everything across the line with great urgency but also thorough attention. I would, without hesitation recommend Jane Williams and her team to anyone looking for an efficient solicitor who will help in whatever way they can. I'll certainly use their services in the future.
