Went to the newer Lorain Walmart for work clothing, but everything was a mess, and the shoe section was atrocious, so I left without buying anything. Stopped into this older aging Kmart, and surprisingly the clothing section in good shape. Furthermore, the shoe and boot selection is large and well organized, and there even is a place to sit and try them on unlike in the local Walmart. This is a great place to buy work clothing on the cheap whether you need blue collar gear or business casual. The only concern I have is, I simply don't understand why they don't invest into this store and try to renovate it more. There is still potential here, and the staff generally are friendly and courteous. If you don't water a plant it dies.
Not a bad k-mart. pretty nice inside.
Dat cartboy with the long hair really cool and a good cartboy
The people are nice. Some of the workers like to Talk to much
I remember when "Super-K" opened - my friends and I couldn't believe how HUGE it was. This was before the "Super-Everything" stores. At the time, it was state-of-the-art, with it's own food court, arcade, electronics, outdoor, clothing, toys, grocery departments. This was one of the first "All-in-one" stores in the area. Soon after the grand-opening and success of the new store - local unions began to picket the non-union KMart - members of the local grocers union/ Rini Rego (now Giant Eagle/AKA Big Bird) made good paying part time jobs out of holding "Don't Shop Here" signs in the grass along route 58. I can remember going to Super K in the wee hours of the morning while in highschool with friends to "hang out." Fast forward to the present - Lighthouse Plaza and Walmart have become the new hit in town. Super K's long lines, pot-holed parking lot, and general disaray almost lost everyone. They even started to close at Midnight for a time. In the last 6 months or so they have cleaned up their act quite a bit - fixed most of the parking lot, have more cashiers in the evening (opposed to Walmart, where lines can be 12 people deep after 10PM) and reclaimed the 24 hours schedule. The addition of little cesars has helped attract customers, but they have a steep climb to regain their previous stake-hold in the hearts and minds of Lorainites.
I feel like I'm cheating on super k when I go to Walmart. I'm sorry, I love you super k!
I love this Kmart. I'm sad that they are closing soon.
