The oldest African American church in Los Angeles. It was established with the assistance of Biddy Mason, an African who was an \indentured servant\; at that time called \slave\ in the US. She amassed wealth, through ingenuity and compassion, for all people. She provided accommodations for Africans, (not yet called \Americans\), when it was still legal to kill them, if they were caught trying to flee an American landowner, while trying to seek freedom. Beautiful mural, in the main sanctuary. Kind and welcoming church members. Everyone should make this a prime stop when visiting Los Angeles. BTW, they have three (3) services. Good chance that you can catch one. But get there early. Parking lots fill fast.

It’s a wonderful church to worship in. Their legendary decades long involvement within the community is nothing short of brilliant and effective. The spiritual messages and lessons I take away each time I worship here has left such an impression that I often times refer back to when I need spiritual guidance. I look forward to the music sung by their talented choirs and the forever welcoming smiles that greet me there.

I just experienced one of the best New Year’s in a church I’ve ever had. It was amazing the service begin with the perfect meal that was simply delicious. We got to play games and socialize. Then we closed out and welcomed in the new year with an awesome word a God from Reverend David And Tamar Bryant. I highly recommend this church!

My home for 13 years. just come as you are and its down to earth. Not a long drawn out service you get the word and good music. Service is a little over a hour and you out.

First AME Church, the oldest \Black Church\ in Los Angeles. Quite a distinction. 3 services. 8am, 9:55 am and 12 noon. Bible Study on Wednesdays at 7 pm. Men's Bible Study on Wednesday as well @ 6pm. A Church which prides itself in being involved in the community. First AME. Church has open arms for everyone. It is predominantly \Black\. However, the congregation is multi ethnic. The Church welcomes ,Everyone! Make First AME Church a destination. Who says: Don Owens
