I went to this school 2 years ago my name is Ethan Ramirez and I loved this school I don't know what has happened over the years but I remember good teachers and a very nice principle no problem with bullying. I recommend it.
Children are very unruly and rude to parents and teachers. There is no system and structure. Nice that isn’t a small school but it has lots of bullying.
This was my first choice of middle school for my daughter. . After enrolling her, going to the orientation and seeing the school. I realized it wasn't a good fit for us. They aren't very organized and I can see issues happening in the long run. They scheduled orientation on street cleaning day. They had many open parking spots in their parking lot, but didnt allow me to park there when i called. We had to walk from BROADWAY. During the orientation, they said 5 points was giving 1 PE shirt for free, just sign our name when we get there. I go down there and they know nothing about it. Just wasted my time. The school itself is extremely small despite how it looks on the outside. Everything is pretty outdated, the rooms are hot. The hallways are narrow. The middle school shares with an elementary, which makes it way smaller. Their yard is half of a parking lot, separated by a yellow line (they should have their employees find parking and walk. Not put the kids second by dividing their play area). Students have to take their PE uniforms everyday because they dont have enough lockers for the small amount of kids that attend here. Their locker rooms are basically in the basement. For me, there was to many red flags here. My daughter is coming from Latona Avenue Elementary and everything there was amazing and well organized.
I came here for my last year of middle school, and when I got here everything was really different. The school and staff are really nice and good teachers. What makes the school bad are the students. Most of the students would always be high or skipping classes. They would also be really disrespectful to the teachers and most of the staff couldn’t really control the students. I made good friendships tho and stayed away from problems.
I fell very short of trust and faith in the elected parent leaders of this school, and made a formal complaint about being harrassed publicaly by the Vice President of the Parent Teacher Council right outside of the school gates. After many written statements and meetings, and even after an admitted wrong doing to myself and my student, this elected parent leader was never reprimanded for any reported misconduct and continues to serve on the PTC. The outcome of this situation caused much stress and anxiety to my student. Yet, the PTC President claimed that I placed fear into my own child, which made her afraid to come to school! This is a transparent picture of unethical decisions, and an unremorseful testiment to their own bi-laws and values that they were elected to uphold. This is perfectly contradictory to what leadership is all about...being accountable for one's actions; taking responsibility for those actions; and finding positive steps to conflict management. How can any school which claims to be Leadership-oriented reject the values of social justice and truth? Placing blame on anyone who was subjected to harrassment or misconduct violates the ethical core of Leadership. I could no longer stand behind the hypocritical take on what is fair and acceptable behaviors that perminates this way of organizational leadership and school safety.
